Description
An accurate description of nuclear fission still remains a major challenge in today’s nuclear structure physics. İn this talk, we will discuss recent advances in the microscopic description of spontaneous nuclear fission, including the role of tensor interactions. It will be shown that in the case of super heavy elements, the reduction of the inner barrier heights represents a major tensor-driven mechanism with strong impact on the predicted spontaneous fission half-lives. Illustrative examples of collective potentials and inertias will be presented for the super heavy Rf, Sg, Hs and Ds isotopic chains, and the resulting spontaneous fission half-lives will be discussed as functions of the neutron number.
