Description

In heavy-ion collisions, primary focus is often given to the participant zone and particles created there. However, recent research demonstrates that spectators that survive the collision play a crucial role in analyzing the Quark-Gluon plasma (QGP) and the trajectories of the particles produced [1,2] due to electromagnetic interaction. Studying de-excitation processes such as evaporation, intermediate-mass fragment (IMF) emission, fission, or multifragmentation provides valuable insight into heavy-ion collisions investigated in experiments such as NA61/SHINE, ALICE or PHENIX.

To analyze the fragmentation of the excited spectator nuclei, the Monte Carlo Abrasion-Ablation model (ABRABLA) [3] was used. Consequently, these simulations are also useful for validating models that describe the de-excitation of exotic nuclei.

In this presentation, results from simulations of spectator de-excitation will be shown, including final product mass/charge distributions, yield distributions across different de-excitation channels, and multiplicity distributions of protons and neutrons emitted by the spectators. The calculations were performed for Ar-Sc and Pb-Pb collisions at $p_{beam}$ = 30 AGeV/c, corresponding to reactions currently analyzed by the NA61/SHINE
Collaboration at the CERN SPS.
