Description

The Pacific Ocean Neutrino Experiment (P-ONE) is a next-generation neutrino telescope currently under development. It will detect the faint flashes of Cherenkov light produced when high-energy neutrinos interact in seawater. One of the major challenges in neutrino detection is distinguishing genuine physics signals from various sources of optical background noise. In this project. I investigated the application of modern machine learning techniques to suppress detector noise in the muon track reconstruction channel. The work involved analyzing simulated detector data, extracting relevant event features, and training simple machine learning models to classify signal and background events.
